John Joubert is 90 this year, and is best known for his carol, Torches. Duncan Honeybourne plays his Dance Suite, the 3rd Piano Sonata, dedicated to Duncan, and the Lyric Fantasy based on his opera, Jane Eyre.

The 2017 Festival opens with Beethoven's highly charged 'Serioso' quartet Op. 95, followed by Schubert's luminous piano sonata in G major, for which we are delighted to welcome pianist Martin Roscoe. With Martin, the Carducci Quartet will be performing Schumann's glorious piano quartet, first performed in 1842 with Mendelssohn at the piano.
