Whether writing for a small jazz ensemble or a vast symphony orchestra his voice remains inimitable and distinctive. A founder member of Loose Tubes he quickly gained a reputation as a startlingly original improviser and composer with the ability to travel effortlessly between the jazz world and the classical. His Umpteenth Violin Concerto was composed in 2004 and will be performed here by Thomas Gould. DESCRIPTION:‘Two Souls in One’ – Composition Workshop led by Robert Peate\, 22 October  \nThis free workshop is open to all but will be of particular interest to GCSE\, A Level and university music students\, choral singers\, and anyone with an interest in composition.  Robert Peate’s enlightening and engaging presentation will tell the story of how he composed ‘Two Souls in One’\, an exciting new composition for choir\, harps\, and narrator.  He will explain his approach to the subjects of the piece (the Christian martyrs St. Katherine of Alexandria  and Hypatia of Alexandria) and the development of the work’s musical concepts\, using live and pre-recorded demonstrations.
