The 2017 Festival opens with Beethoven's highly charged 'Serioso' quartet Op. 95, followed by Schubert's luminous piano sonata in G major, for which we are delighted to welcome pianist Martin Roscoe. With Martin, the Carducci Quartet will be performing Schumann's glorious piano quartet, first performed in 1842 with Mendelssohn at the piano.

Crawford Logan reads a selection of Beethoven's Letters written to friends, family and colleagues, including the famous 'Immortal Beloved' letters from 1812. The letters will be read between movements from his masterpieces Op. 18, Op. 59, Op. 95 and the late quartets Op. 131, Op. 132 and Op. 135.
