J S Bach – Suites for solo cello

Alison McGillivray will play the first and sixth of Bach’s Suites for solo cello, and some Scots tunes by James Oswald, from the Caledonian Pocket Companion.

Alison McGillivray is a cellist and viola da gamba player who is regularly heard playing with Concerto Caledonia, The Society of Strange and Ancient Instruments, Rachel Podger’s Brecon Baroque and the Dunedin Consort.

This concert is part of Musica Deo Sacra the annual festival celebrating music in the liturgy at Tewkesbury Abbey.
