The Peregrine String Quartet, led by Sonia Hammond and Justin Lingard, is a group of four professional musicians who have returned to live and work amidst the beauty of the Welsh hills.
All the members of the quartet have learned from and played alongside some of the great string players of the 20th century and their concerts are designed to inspire and stimulate audiences with the freshness of their approach. In the spirit of that approach they will be performing Steve Reich’s 1988 piece ‘Different Trains’. Its original release was performed by the Kronos Quartet and won a Grammy Award in 1989 for Best Contemporary Classical Composition. This will be rare chance to see this moving piece performed in such a wonderful setting.
