Joined by two outstanding soloists of the younger generation, oboist Emily Pailthorpe and pianist Clare Hammond, the Festival Orchestra brings together a varied programme of works by Shostakovich, David Matthews, Richard Blackford and the premiere of Robert Saxton’s The Resurrection of the Soldiers – inspired by Stanley Spencer’s powerful canvas of the same name.
